Children and the Sustainable Development Goals in Rich Countries
This report was provided by the UNICEF Office with the support of the Italian Government. The report was written by Chris Brazier in 2017. This report is an assessment of the well-being of children in the field of sustainable development in 41 EU countries for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The 2015 World Summit set ambitious goals for sustainable development and represents a global development plan that is socially, economically and environmentally sound. This report applies to rich countries as well as poor countries in 2030.
The objectives of the report include the following:
The end of poverty in all its forms everywhere_
_End hunger, create food security and improve nutrition
Ensuring a healthy life and promoting well-being_
Ensuring inclusive and fair quality education for all_
_Creating inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities
Ensuring sustainable production and consumption patterns_
_Gender equality and empowered girls
Encourage full and productive employment and suitable work for all_
Reducing inequality within and between countries_
_Promoting peaceful and inclusive communities for sustainable development
As a result, in this report we will understand that the most telling sign of a nation’s progress in achieving these goals will be how well it responds to the needs of its children.
